Dialectical Model of Human Nature

This graphical model of human nature represents my current understanding of human nature and embodies the guiding philosophy of social neuroscience. Its dialectical structure explicitly links aspects of culture and biology within the cerebrocortical layers of human brain in order to convey the symbiotic and dynamic interaction between these two realms of scientific thought and the natural world. In its entirety, the DMoHN places human nature in time and within an unstable natural environment. As time and geography move forward through the human brain, human nature is developed across various developmental pathways. Within the model, it is explicitly suggested that human nature is not a matter of culture or biology, nature or nurture, but rather a product of both. In which various aspects of both interact and become synthesized as they are processed within the physiology of each individual human. Graphics and animations of the DMoHN are available at www.jcachat.com/dmohn.html
